We walked off base for the first time yesterday. It was great. A little intense. We walked to the Seiyu (Japanese Walmart) and on the bridge that connects the two buildings, there was a guy peeing into one of the drains :/. I'm pretty sure he's the same guy we seen in that spot last time crying in a fetal position....so we came to the conclusion that he's probably homeless.
We were offered a house but were unable to see it before signing the contract because the current occupant didn't feel comfortable showing us her house. Totally understandable. Her final inspection is Oct 3rd so we're heading to the housing office that day to see if we can look at it then. We should be able to move in around October 13th. But we won't get our HHG until November 18th or so. It's on the west side, on the 7th floor. We're pretty excited. A lot of the people from Travis' shop live over on that side as well.
We went to the BX/Commissary today and they had a bulk sale (they were selling cases of soap, cereal, drinks, paper towels, etc) everything was really cheap. We bought a years worth of Multi Grain Cheerios...yummm along with some arizona tea. We walked there and had quite a bit of groceries, so we looked weird walking back..but the inspector general of the base offered us a ride. He is extremely nice and gave us his card in case we ever need anything. We are loving this place more and more each day we're here.
We also walked to the airmans attic on the west side, and walked through all the officers' housing area and man are they nice..but we felt really out of place..haha. We had to get Travis' some used boots and a used uniform for some exercise thing he got volunteered to do for the squadron tomorrow.
Tomorrow we're going to go to dinner with another couple for the husband's birthday, and then we're going to go out with them and quite a few other people. We're both looking forward to it, so we'll see how it goes.
We made borscht tonight and it made us really miss home, and a really great friend. It was the best recipe we've eaten since the first time we tried it at Jeremy's house.

Sorry we don't have many photos...it feels weird taking photos when we're surrounded by people. I'll try to get over that soon.
Well here's a few more photos we've taken.
